Stacey Dash Defends Her Support of Mitt Romney

"Clueless" actress Stacey Dash appeared on "Piers Morgan Tonight" and told the CNN host that she recently endorsed Mitt Romney on Twitter because she wants the next four years to be different.

Dash came under attack on Twitter shortly after publicly supporting Romney on Oct. 7. Most of the negative responses against the 46-year-old actress had to do with her race and gender.

"The fury, I really don't understand the fury," she told Morgan Tuesday night. "I don't understand it. I don't get it…I was shocked, saddened. Not angry. Saddened and really shocked. But you know what, you can't expect everyone to agree with you."

Dash, who admitted she voted for Barack Obama in 2008, told Morgan she believed in Romney.

"I believe him…I watched him, the Governor and his wife, on 'Meet The Press.'…They spoke to me, they seemed authentic and genuine."

One negative tweet directed at Dash read, "You're an unemployed black woman endorsing @MittRomney. You're voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot," one user tweeted.

After the negative backlash, Dash stood by her comment, tweeting, "My humble opinion… EVERYONE is entitled to one."

Women's rights activists Sandra Fluke, who is often a target of many conservative pundits, tweeted her support for Dash.

"So disappointed to see people attacking @REALStaceyDash for voicing her opinion. Disagree politically, but #racist attacks are unacceptable."

The lines seem simple enough, but much of the internet refuses to take Minaj at her word. That's partly the rapper's fault, as she is known for adopting multiple personalities (Roman, Barbie, etc.) and generally obfuscating for the fun of it. Some wonder if she was impersonating a Republican in the first line, which would make Republicans the target of the "lazy b----es" insult.
Vulture noted that Minaj has tweeted at Obama before, imploring him to go further in his healthcare reform efforts. "Even with Obama Care, too much involved," she tweeted. "Just give FREE health care to all. @barackobama What can we do?"
Rapper Talib Kweli, who is no stranger to incorporating politics into his songs, tweeted that Minaj is just hunting for publicity:

Minaj is hardly the first hip-hop figure to take a stance on the election. In an earlier interview with The Huffington Post, Minaj's sometimes collaborator 2 Chainz said that he could beat Romney if he wanted to ("he's just rich as sh-t, that's all").
Obama appeared (via video) at Jay-Z's Made in America Festival performance this weekend, asking the crowd to vote and saying he enjoyed the rapper's songs. The president has also courted the favor of Common, whose attendance of a White House event drew surprisingly harsh condemnation from conservatives who objected to the rapper's lyrics.
Republican rappers are far and few between, though 50 Cent has compared himself to George W. Bush and LL Cool J attended the 2004 Republican National Convention.

Many of you weren't sold on the iPhone 5's design. For some of you the taller screen was odd - it "looks strange at best," said nebulaoperator - and for others it simply wasn't big enough.
Lions87a reckons even 4.5 inches would be too little: "popular phones like the Galaxy S2 and S3 have shown that people are pretty happy nowadays to accept bigger than what the iPhone 5 is currently offering."
Writing in the Chicago Sun-Times, influential tech journalist Andy Ihnatko suggests that taller isn't necessarily better. "The benefit of bigger screens is almost entirely in their increased width, not their length," he writes. "A wider keyboard is easier to type on. Books, web pages, and emails will have wider margins and they'll be more comfortable to read."
John Gruber of Daring Fireball agrees that bigger isn't always better, but he's not a fan of wider, either: while he says that "navigating the full screen while holding the iPhone in one hand is worse," rivals' wider screens mean it "really is far more difficult to do anything on them one-handed, including typing."

Trick-or-treating or "Guising", is a customary practice for children on Halloween in many countries. Children in costumes travel from house to house in order to ask for treats such as candy (or, in some cultures, money) with the question "Trick or treat?". The "trick" is a (usually idle) threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given.
In North America, trick or treat has been a customary Halloween tradition since at least the late 1950s. Homeowners wishing to participate in it usually decorate their private entrance with artificial spider webs, plastic skeletons and jack-o-lanterns. Some rather reluctant homeowners would simply leave the candy in bowls on the porch, others might be more participative and would even ask an effort from the children in order to provide them with candy. In the more recent years, however, the practice has spread to almost any house within a neighborhood being visited by children, including senior residences and condominiums.

Sarah Palin has a message for the "haters" who sent daughter Bristol Palin threatening packages on the set of "Dancing With the Stars" last week: Don't waste your time.

The proud mom and former vice presidential candidate took to her Facebook account today and slammed whoever anonymously sent "mysterious white powder" to the "DWTS" all-star season set in California.

The package reportedly contained a note threatening the "Dancing With the Stars" producers if Palin is not removed from the show.

"These threats sure waste a lot of time, production and public resources; but do the haters really think this will stop Bristol and Mark and the show's producers from keepin' on keepin' on?" Palin wrote.

The FBI and the Los Angeles Police Department have confirmed that they are investigating a suspicious package that was sent to the Hollywood set last week along with the threatening message targeting the 21-year old contestant, according to TMZ.

Ahmed Ghalib Mousa, a former teacher, had been admitted to hospital in the southern province of Jazan for treatment of sudden psychological problems, the Arabic language daily Sabq said.
“We then brought a local Sheikh to read Koran on him and the Sheikh told us that my brother is under a magic spell,” his younger brother, Abdo Mousa, said.
“After a few days, he just vanished….we later received a phone call from some citizens in another area saying they had seen my brother wearing sport clothes and walking in a small village there.”

Fighter jets roared through the skies over downtown Pyongyang on Thursday as the world watched to see whether North Korea would defy international warnings and launch a long-range rocket over the Yellow Sea.

The five-day window for the launch of a rocket mounted with an observation satellite opened Thursday as North Koreans woke to details about developments at a Workers' Party conference where leader Kim Jong Un ascended to top posts and brought with him a new generation of officials.

His father, Kim Jong Il, was granted the posthumous title of "eternal general secretary" at the special one-day party conference Wednesday. The immortalization of the late leader provided a glimpse into how North Korea will handle the nation's second hereditary succession and indicates he will be honored much in the same way his father, Kim Il Sung, was made "eternal president" following his 1994 death.

Footage on state TV on Thursday showed Kim Jong Un seated at the front of the conference with white statues of his grandfather and a new statue of his father in his trademark khaki work ensemble, one arm on his hip. Pyongyang vows to go ahead with launch of what it says is a satellite, but US fears is a disguised long-range missile test.

North Korea has moved three stages of a long-range rocket into position for a controversial launch in defiance of international warnings against violating a ban on missile activity.

Foreign news agencies were allowed a firsthand look at preparations under way at the coastal Sohae satellite station in north-western North Korea.

North Korea announced plans last month to launch an observation satellite during mid-April celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the birth of its founder Kim Il Sung. The US, Japan, Britain and other nations have urged North Korea to cancel the launch, warning that firing the long-range rocket would violate UN resolutions and Pyongyang's promise to refrain from engaging in nuclear and missile activity.

North Korea say that the launch is a intended to improve the nation's faltering economy by providing detailed surveys of the countryside.

"Our country has the right and also the obligation to develop satellites and launching vehicles," Jang Myong Jin, general manager of the launch facility. "No matter what others say, we are doing this for peaceful purposes." Read More

Syria: We will not Pull our Troops and Allow "armed terrorist groups" commit attacks,

(CNN) -- Syria will not commit to pulling armed forces from cities only to have "armed terrorist groups" commit attacks, a Syrian foreign ministry spokesman said Sunday as opposition activists reported more than 30 deaths in the restive nation.

The comments, made by Jihad Maqdisi on state-run TV, came two days before a Tuesday deadline for regime forces to withdraw from cities, which the government had agreed to as part of a peace plan laid out by U.N.-Arab League special envoy Kofi Annan.

But "Annan did not give written assurances that the armed groups would turn in their weapons," Makdissi said.

Annan has said he expects rebel fighters to also cease fire after the Tuesday deadline, but the deadline itself was for regime forces to withdraw from cities. Read More
