Joe Paterno Penn State coach Dies amid sexual scandal

Paterno died Sunday at a State College, Pa., hospital, suffering in his final days from lung cancer, broken bones and the fallout of a horrific scandal that not only cost him his job, but also his trademark vigor and a portion of his good name. He was 85 years old.
This is a complicated passing. What was once the most consistent and basic of messages – honor, ethics and education – seemingly lived out as close to its ideal as possible was rocked Nov. 5, 2011, when a grand jury indicted Paterno’s former defensive coordinator, Jerry Sandusky, of multiple counts of sexual abuse of children.
Many, including Penn State’s Board of Trustees, believed Paterno could have and should have done more to stop Sandusky, especially after allegations of misconduct arose in 2002. Within days Paterno was fired from the program and school to which he’d become synonymous

Iranians worry about possibility of war amid tensions with West

REPORTING FROM TEHRAN AND BEIRUT— The deepening standoff between Tehran and the West over Iran's nuclear program has Iranians chatting nervously in butcher shops, grocery aisles and money exchanges.

In a Tehran supermarket, Ali and his wife, a couple in their 40s, were filling cart after cart with bags of groceries. When asked by other shoppers why he was buying so much, Ali responded he was stocking up for "when the U.S. will come and bombard" the Islamic Republic.

"I mean it," said Ali, who like many here would not give his last name. He pointed at other frowning customers. "Look at the faces of people here. They are worried."

The U.S. and its allies suspect Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapon, but Tehran says its program is only for  civilian purposes. Earlier this month, Iran said  that it had begun to enrich uranium at a new underground bunker. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton condemned the decision, saying it put Iran "a significant step closer" to getting  the ability to produce weapons-grade fuel.

On Jan. 11, an Iranian nuclear scientist was killed in a Tehran car explosion, something that Iran's supreme leader says was organized by U.S. and Israeli spy agencies. The killing came briefly after Israel's military chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, warned that the Islamic Republic could expect "unnatural events" taking place in 2012.

Etta James and Beyonce had a special connection.

Beyoncé had a special connection to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, having performed a number of tributes to the "At Last" singer over the years.
Beyoncé portrayed James in the 2008 film "Cadillac Records," which chronicled the life of music executive Leonard Chess and the artists signed to his label, Chess Records. Playing the tough, boisterous, and sometimes profane James forced Beyoncé to step outside of her comfort zone.
"Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist," she said about her performance, which won critical praise. "When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear the pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be misse
