Syria's two largest opposition groups signed an agreement on setting up a democracy if President Bashar Assad's autocratic regime falls, opposition figures said Saturday.
The move is so far the most serious by the fractured opposition to unite against the regime and shows that Assad's opponents will accept nothing less than his departure from power.

Kid Cudi pens letter to fan who passed away from heart condition

Hip-hop artist Kid Cudi has written a vert heartfelt note to an 18-year-old fan who passed away from a heart attack, one week after the teen posted videos to YouTube about his struggle with a heart condition.
Ben Breedlove suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition that causes part of the heart to thicken, ABC News reported. In videos posted Dec. 18, Breedlove used notecards to describe the three times he “cheated death.”
The third time, Breedlove explained, happened after he passed out at school in early December. While paramedics worked to revive him, Breedlove said he had a vision that Kid Cudi appeared to him, while his favorite song, “Mr. Rager,” played. “Why he was the only one there with me, I'm still trying to figure out,” Breedlove wrote. At the end of the vision, Breedlove said, Kid Cudi told him to, “Go on.”
“I am so sad about Ben Breedlove. I watched the video he left for the world to see, and him seeing me in detail, in his vision really warmed my heart,” Kid Cudi, whose given name is Scott Mescudi, wrote on his Tumblr. “I broke down ... because I hate how life is so unfair.
“This has really touched my heart in a way I cant describe, this is why I do what I do. Why I write my life, and why I love you all so much. Life is really [expletive] sometimes, but I know Ben is at Peace, and I hope he gets a chance to sit and talk with my Dad. We love you Ben. Forever. Thank you for loving me. To Ben’s family, you raised a real hero, he’s definately mine. You have my love

Rapper C-Murder's conviction, sentence upheld

A Louisiana appeals court has upheld the murder conviction and life sentence for the rapper known as C-Murder.
C-Murder,( real name is Corey Miller,) was convicted of shooting a teenager to death in 2002.
A three-judge panel from the state's 5th Circuit Court of Appeal on Wednesday rejected Miller's argument that he didn't get a fair trial.
In 2009, a jury convicted him of second-degree murder for shooting  a 16-year-old,  during a confrontation at a nightclub.
Miller claims the judge who presided over his trial allowed jurors to hear prejudicial and unsubstantiated testimony that he threatened witnesses to the shooting. He also accused prosecutors of systematically eliminating black people from the jury.
But the 5th Circuit rejected those arguments.  C-Murder is the younger brother of rapper Master P whose real name is Percy Miller.

Kim Kardashian Paid $600K to Host Vegas New Years Eve party!

Kim Kardashian and the entire Kardashian clan don’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon, despite the boycott efforts against them. In fact, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star will be raking in a cool $600,000 just to host a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas! No, we are not kidding. More after the jump!

Say what? Yes, you read that correctly. Despite all the bad press after her divorce from Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian is supposedly being paid $600,000 to host the annual New Year’s Eve party at Tao in the Venetian in Las Vegas. According to sources, Kim was paid $500,000 for the same hosting gig last year, so why the extra $100k this year? Apparently, Tao is also paying the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star to make a few more appearances for them.
Speaking of New Year’s Eve, Kim Kardashian recently took to Twitter to share her excitement as she posted: “New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite nights of the year. Time to celebrate everything you’ve achieved in the past year and look forward to everything to come in the New Year… This New Year’s Eve, I’ll be celebrating at Tao in Las Vegas. I can’t wait!” Will she be celebrating the fact that she achieved yet another failure of a marriage? Somehow we don’t think she will be drowning sorrow about her divorce on New Year’s Eve.
What are your thoughts on the whole Kardashian divorce mess? Comment below and share your thoughts.

Russia test-fires two new nuclear missiles

Russia successfully tested  two new Bulava intercontinental missiles on Friday. These missiles have experienced several failures in the past.
The Defence Ministry said the 12-meter-long Bulava, or Mace, which Moscow aims to make the cornerstone of its nuclear arsenal, was fired from a submarine in the Arctic White Sea.. It hit the target, a designated polygon, on Kamchatka peninsula in Russia's far east.
The missiles carry dummies rather than nuclear warheads as Russia is a part of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) which bans all nuclear explosions.
The Bulava had failed half of its prior trials, questioning  the expensive missile program.
A Bulava missile weighs 36.8 tonnes and can travel a distance of 8,000 km (5,000) miles carrying 6-10 nuclear warheads, which would deliver an impact of up to 100 times the atomic blast that devastated Hiroshima in 1945.

Sources say 24-year-old Slim Dunkin, whose real name was Mario Hamilton, was shot to death in the chest Friday after a dispute with another person that evening. He was taken to a city hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are urging Hardimon to turn himself in because they have reason to believe he may be in danger.

Before today, Vinson Hardimon, AKA Young Vito, had long dreadlocks, a mustache and a goatee. But he was short-haired and very clean shaven as he turned himself in Monday for the murder.

Slim Dunkin, AKA Mario Hamilton, was killed on Dec. 16 after being shot in the chest in a dispute over candy  (yes thats right folks candy)  during a video shoot in an Atlanta recording studio. Police say that Hardimon was the shooter man and they were looking for him when he turned himself in. Professor claims NYU fired him after he gave James Franco a 'D"

James Franco’s tired James Dean act got an NYU professor booted from the school last year — after the teacher dared to give the overhyped Hollywood hunk a “D” for blowing off class, a lawsuit charges.
José Angel Santana said he slapped the “127 Hours’’ star with the bad grade because he missed 12 of his 14 “Directing the Actor II” classes while pursuing a master’s in fine arts.
Santana said he then suffered all kinds of drama — first from Franco, who publicly ridiculed him, then from his department, which axed him over the “D.”
“The school has bent over backwards to create a Franco-friendly environment, that’s for sure,” Santana, 58, told The Post. “The university has done everything in its power to curry favor with James Franco.”

The country's "Dear Leader" — reputed to have had a taste for cigars, cognac and gourmet cuisine — was believed to have had diabetes and heart disease.
North Korea has been grooming Kim's third son to take over power from his father in the impoverished nation that celebrates the ruling family with an intense cult of personality.
South Korea put its military on "high alert" and President Lee Myung-bak convened a national security council meeting after the news of Kim's death.

Syrian government threatens to execute 21 rebels in the next 24 hours

Syrian rebel forces have threatened "harsh" reprisals against the army after claiming that the government is planning to execute 21 captured defectors on Monday.

"I have a personal message for the army: If the army executes these men, there will be a very harsh retaliation against them here in Homs," Abdul-Razaq Tlas, the commander of one of two rebel battalions in the city, said.

Kobe Bryant's cheating led to divorce filing: REPORT

It was reported today that   Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant cheated multiple times with multiple partners on his wife of more than a decade -- events that led to Vanessa Bryant's surprise divorce filing in Orange County, California Friday.
Of course, if this is true, Bryant will likely go back into the media doghouse as the latest celebrity athlete to succumb to carnal temptation.
And this story will be around for weeks, if not months.
According to sources Vanessa Bryant knew that her husband had been involved with "multiple women" over the years, but a recent affair pushed her to the limit
In a joint statement released Friday, the couple asked that the media respect their privacy, as well as the well-being of their two young daughters.
Usually those types of requests are not honored given that the public wants to know every detail about these kinds of stories, and the history of the Bryant family drama -- not to mention the fact that the marriage had no prenuptial agreement -- that request isn't likely to be granted.

Kobe Bryant getting a Divorce.

Vanessa Bryant filed legal docs Friday afternoon, citing "irreconcilable differences."
Sources connected with the couple say ... Vanessa -- who stuck by Kobe after he was charged with sexually assaulting a Colorado woman in 2003 -- decided to end the marriage because she believes Kobe has been unfaithful ... yet again.
As one source puts it, "She's been dealing with these incidents for a long time and has been a faithful wife, but she's finally had enough," adding, "This one is the straw that broke the camel's back." And our sources say ... Kobe "desperately" wants to win Vanessa back and will do "whatever it takes" to save their 10 1/2 year marriage.
According to the legal docs, Vanessa is asking for joint custody of their 2 daughters  8-year-old Natalia and 5-year-old Giana -- but Vanessa is asking that Kobe get visitation rights, which means she wants the kids in her care most of the time.     NBA

Rick Perry collects early retirement but...

Texas Gov. Rick Perry makes nearly $225,000 a year, but a good chunk of it comes not from his state salary, but from his retirement benefits.
Perry is paid $132,995 to run the state of Texas, but he also collects a monthly annuity of $7,698.96 – more than $92,000 per year – in early retirement, according to disclosure forms filed with the Federal Election Commission.
His only liability is a 2006 student loan for between $100,000 and $250,000 with an interest rate of 3.875%. A second student loan with a higher interest rate – 8.25% -- was paid in full earlier this year.
Sullivan said the loan was used to send Perry’s son Griffin to Vanderbilt.
Until August, Perry held a number of stocks and municipal bonds in a blind trust. Perry liquidated the trust when he declared his candidacy for president because it did not qualify as a federal blind trust.
The holdings “have been largely liquidated into cash or cash equivalents,” Sullivan said.

Thousands of birds... Mistakenly hit pavement thinking it is water????

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Thousands of migratory birds were killed or injured after supposedly mistaking a Wal-Mart parking lot, football fields and other areas of southern Utah for bodies of water and heading to the ground in what one state wildlife expert called the largest bird crash she'd ever seen.
Crews started cleaning up the dead birds and rescuing the injured survivors after they " crash-landed" in the St. George area Monday night.

Christmas

Christmas is literally right around the corner. I always find it funny that people have different ways of showing what Christmas truly means to them. To me, it's not all about the gift giving and spending money.  To me it's about getting drunk and celebrating.  (Yeah I bet you all thought I was going to say something generic like spending time with family or loved ones eh?)  Happy Holidays.

Iran releases video of downed U.S. spy drone–looking intact

American officials have agreed that an unmanned U.S. reconnaissance plane was lost on a mission  last week, but have insisted that there is no evidence the drone was downed by hostile acts by Iran. Rather, they said, the drone likely went down because of a malfunction, and they implied the advanced stealth reconnaissance plane would likely have fallen from such a high altitude--the RQ-170 Sentinel can fly as high as 50,000 feet--that it wouldn't be in good shape.

 UPDATE  January 17, 2012

Iran Agrees to Return the U.S. Stealth Drone in Toy Form

Iranians won't return the advanced RQ-170 Sentinel drone downed in their country late last year but they will give the White House a toy replica.
On Tuesday, Iranian Radio Payam reported that a local company is manufacturing a toy version of the stealth drone one eightieth of its size that will be shipped to the White House. News of the toy brinkmanship was first reported outside Iran by Reuters' Mitrak Amiri, who happened to be reporting on a ban on Barbie dolls by the state's morality police (children's toys are a hot topic in Iran right now). The report says the miniature drone will be sold in a "variety of colours." According to Trend, a news site in neighboring Azerbaijan, the toy will be 30x14 cm bearing the inscription "We will trample the U.S." While the Associated Press merely notes that a company is behind the toy's rollout, Trend cites an Iranian radio report attributing its production to a "group of Iranian youths."
"There will be a special ceremony on Feb. 1 marking the 34th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran," reads the report.
