I'm wider than I am tall: 35 stone Rob measures 6ft 6in around his waist
The 25-year-old youth worker has been warned by doctors he could die unless he sheds some fat
POOR Rob Gillett has a real weighty problem to deal with...
At 35st he is one of the very few people who is wider than he is tall.
Youth worker Rob, 25, is 5’ 3” tall but measures 6’ 6” around his girth – just an inch less than the height of England’s beanpole striker Peter Crouch.
And doctors have warned him he could die unless he sheds some fat.
Health chiefs recommend a Body Mass Index, the measure of body fat, of under 25 but supersize Rob’s comes in at 86.
He consumes 7,000 calories a day tucking into cream doughnuts, chocolate, biscuits and cake washed down with fizzy drinks.
Rob said: “I’m addicted to sweet stuff. I don’t like what I see in the mirror but when I see the food I just want to eat and eat.”
He admits he cries himself to sleep because he has no girlfriend and cannot live an ordinary life. Rob added: “I don’t see the point of chatting to girls.
"I want to lose weight so I can fit into fashionable clothes, be one of the lads, go out and meet friends.”
Professor David Haslam, of the National Obesity Forum, said: “It is extremely rare for someone’s waist circumference to be greater than their height.
"If this chap doesn’t do something about it he’s going to lose decades of his life.”
Now Rob, of Bridgend, South Wales, has taken heed of the warnings and lost two stone and trimmed 10 inches off his waist.
He said: “I’m eating more fruit and veg and swimming regularly.”
