6.8 quake shakes Philippines

a 6.8-magnitude earthquake has struck the central Philippines, but there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties. No tsunami warning was issued.
The head of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Renato Solidum says the quake that hit around noon Monday possibly caused some damage in structurally weak buildings.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centered 44 miles north of Dumaguete city on Negros Island in the central Philippines.
It was also felt in central Cebu city, the country's second largest, where it lasted about 30 seconds.
